Welcome!

OPERATION HOME RUN - KANSAS has teamed up with the Operation Home Run organization started by Ben Inks, the Boy Scout in Lindon, Utah!  For more information, please click here.

Operation Home Run - Kansas is a project to send baseball, softball, and other sports equipment to U.S. Troops stationed overseas.  And to bring to those countries America's favorite pastime as a way for American troops to interact with the local villages.

This started with a request from the troops in Kuwait for baseball equipment for use while off-duty.  On July 13, 2002, PFC Marc Knowles and Specialist Greg Boyer emailed Steve Knowles of the request, and the need for Operation Home Run - Kansas was born.  Since then Operation Home Run - Kansas has grown into a movement encompassing many Kansas communities.

Steve Knowles contacted U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt (KS-04) to see if he would help in Operation Home Run - Kansas.  Tiahrt agreed and helped OHR team up with Major League Baseball.  The Baseball Commissioner's office obtained donations from Pony Baseball and Softball, Wilson Sporting Goods, and Mizuno USA.  Several Major League Baseball teams have also donated equipment, including the Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, and Baltimore Orioles.  A special thanks also to the Famous San Dieo Chicken for his support of OHR.
